As the son of Dan Dennehy of Dan-D Knives and the 2007 Cutlery Hall of Fame Inductee, I have been around knives and sheaths all of my life. In 1989 I went to work in Dan's shop and with my expertise in leather I was doing most of the sheath work at the time. Greg Walker (editor of Fighting Knives Magazine) thought enough of my work to give me a centerfold spread in the Fall issue 1990. Since that time my work has appeared in The Blade magazine, Combat Handguns, Gun World and the Gun Digest Book of knives numerous times. I have written instruction articles for the Blade magazine as well as The Leathercrafters and Saddlers journal as well as live sheath making seminars at numerous knife shows including the Blade Show, the Spirit of Steel show and the Denver show. What does this mean to you and what sets my work apart from other sheath makers? First off I will state clearly that I do not specialize in making sheaths. I am interested in all forms of leather work. Leather is a medium that is gaining popularity around the world as a true art medium. With that being said I want to remind you that I have spent most of my life using and making knives and the sheaths that house them. Many of my innovative designs have been reproduced by some of the best known knife and sheath makers in the country. Many of whom sat in on one of my seminars or paid close attention to my instructional articles. My study of leather work, carving and tooling styles and the best methods of superior construction of leather goods enables me to create some of the finest gear available. If you place as high a value on your leather sheath as you do your knife, then I invite you to contact me. Knife makers - I invite you to contact me as well if you demand only the highest quality leather sheaths to be delivered with your blades.
